- According to the human studies, pyruvate improves exercise performance primarily by
enhancing the transport of glucose into the muscle cell. If your looking for fat loss you
may need to take 3 to 5 grams of pyruvate a day or more. Research on pyruvate indicates
that it may increase exercise performance and enhance fat loss by 48%, 37% more weight
loss, 20% - 50% more endurance and physical performance.
|
|
- Two potential mechanisms by which pyruvate enhances both fat and weight loss are through
increasing metabolism and fat utilization. Although animal studies have shown that
pyruvate increases resting metabolic rate and fat utilization (as determined by a decrease
in respiratory quotient), increased metabolic rate hasn't been found in humans. Still,
preliminary data indicate that pyruvate may increase fat utilization in humans.

- Pyruvate may be helpful in preventing a plateau in dieting due to depletion of liver
ATP. Liver ATP depletion causes a decrease in T3 thyroid hormone which lowers the
meatabolism. An effective maintenance dose may be 5 grams per day after several days of 20
grams per day. It is recommended that you only diet with a moderate calorie deficit -
about 10 to 15% less than the number of calories needed to maintain your current weight.
|
|
- Pyruvate is 100% safe; it naturally occurs in the body as an end-product of the
metabolism of sugar or starch. Supplementation with Pyruvate has been found to increase
the metabolism, accelerating fat loss. The only side-effects observed from mega-doses of
Pyruvate have been gastric distress (gas; a natural byproduct of digestion)--and this is
from doses 10 times the recommended dosage.
|
|
- Pyruvic acid is chemically unstable (and can cause nausea and intestinal discomfort), so
manufacturers stabilize it by forming a salt called pyruvate. Pyruvate salts are formed
when pyruvic acid is combined with either sodium, calcium, potassium or magnesium.
Pyruvate Fuel is Calcium-Pyruvate.
