About the Product:

Hops female strobiles, more commonly known simply as "hops", is a hedgerow climber that grows around trees. The fruit portion of the plant has been used since Roman times in brewing beer, and as a nerve tonic and a sedative.

Diarrhea/Intestinal Tract Discomfort:

Hops' main use is that of acting as a sedative. Studies have shown that the use of hops relaxes smooth muscle. Its main constituent group is lupulin, which contains a bitter acid complex and a volatile oil complex, which have been associated with sedative properties. Hops also contains flavanoid glycosides, tannins, and asparagine.

With its sedative capabilities, hops is also recommended in relieving symptoms of various gastrointestinal conditions, including controlling diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's Disease.

Anaphrodisiac:

Another minor use of hops is as an anaphrodisiac. Estrogenic substances have been found in hops and associated with suppressing sexual desire.

Suggested Dosage:

100mg capsule, 1-2 daily.

Safety:

Hops has shown no toxicity. However, this product should not be used by pregnant women, nor for those suffering from depressive illness.
